Gun Creek sits along the southern shore of the North Sound just east of Leverick Bay. Gun Creek offers a nicely protected anchorage where you will find provisions and food. There is a dinghy dock available on the ferry dock if you want to go ashore in Gun Creek.
Vixen Point is on the south side of Prickly Pear Island. It will be off your port side as you round Prickly Pear and head towards Saba Rock or The Bitter End.
You can either anchor or moor off of Vixen Point. There are a handful of moorings available off of Vixen Point and there is plenty of room for anchoring as well. Just be sure that you stay clear of the channel and leave room for the moored boats. Vixen Point has good holding on a sandy bottom and can be a good spot to a day anchor while you enjoy the beach and have lunch at the Sand Box.
You will find two things ashore at Vixen Point (in addition to a zillion hermit crabs)…a great sandy beach and the Sand Box bar & restaurant. The beach at Vixen Point is a great place to swim, especially for kids and if a great place to watch the boats coming and going in the North Sound. The beach The Sand Box serves both lunch and dinner in a super casual beach bar atmosphere. There is also live entertainment on the weekends.
